Most often yes. If you have a prescription from your physician then Elevate AFOs can be covered by your insurance company. This includes public (Medicare, Medicaid) as well as private insurances. However coverage varies depending on each provider.
If you already have an AFO and want to switch to Elevate, it's best to call your insurance provider and make sure you're eligible for a new brace prior to getting fitted.
If you wish to see a clinician and pay through your insurance provider (public or private), you must have a prescription for an AFO prior to your fitting appointment.
But don't worry, getting a prescription is easy! You can ask your Primary Care Physician (PCP), neurologist, orthopedist, or other physician to write you a prescription for an "Ankle Foot Orthosis" to treat your symptoms of drop foot.
To ensure you receive the best brace for your specific needs, it's important that a certified professional help to evaluate your needs and select the best AFO for you. This can be an Orthotist, Podiatrist, Physical Therapist or other clinician who specializes in supportive braces.
If you wish to pay through your insurance provider, a licensed clinician will both fit your brace and submit it to your insurance company.
It depends! Elevate partners with amazing clinics across the US, Canada and Australia to help our patients get the best care. Appointment availability and timing will vary from clinic to clinic.
